Protest 20 May 2025 - Update 1
This morning, pro-Palestinian demonstrators began a protest at the Faculty of Law. In doing so, they blocked the entrances to the faculty building. UM is speaking with the protesters. The UM approach is clear: we give space to demonstrations where we can, and at the same time we want to safeguard the primary task of the university: providing education and research. In all of this, the safety of those involved is paramount.
The further course of action is still unclear. In this uncertainty, we can now announce that security at our buildings will be enforced. In places where we deem it necessary, you can only enter with a UM card.
Because the protest will possibly take place partly in the public space and will be visible, we are in contact with the municipality and police in order to contribute together to a safe situation and as little inconvenience as possible.
We will post updates here when more is known or can be reported.
