Participate in a workshop aimed at making the UM Student Guidance Vision clearer, more relatable, and easier to understand for students. The workshop will take place on 29 October, from 16:00 to 18:00 at EDLAB.

The Student Guidance Vision reflects the university’s goals and values for supporting students, but its current wording can feel formal or abstract. This workshop will focus on translating the vision into student-friendly language while keeping its original meaning intact.

What to expect:

  • Work in small, interactive groups to rewrite sections of the vision in language that feels relatable and useful to students.
  • Share your perspective on how UM communicates about student guidance—what lands, what doesn’t, and how to improve it.
  • Contribute directly to how the university communicates with students in the future.

Your input will directly contribute to how the university communicates with all students in the future.

Why this matters

The Student Guidance Project (grown out of EDLAB’s UM advising project) aims to expand, investigate, and strengthen student guidance across UM towards 2030. The vision has been co-created with input from many stakeholders; now we’re keeping the intent but rewriting the wording so it speaks to students.
