We are happy to announce that the Institute of Data Science will organize the second edition of WiDS Maastricht in conjunction to WiDS Netherlands. The two events are co-joint and will take place online on the 8th and 9th March 2021!

All genders are invited to attend these WiDS events, which feature outstanding women doing innovative technical work in data science, AI and related technical fields.

The Women in Data Science (WiDS) initiative aims to inspire and educate data scientists worldwide, regardless of gender, and to support women in the field. 

The WiDS conference aims to inspire and educate data scientists worldwide, regardless of gender, and to support women in the field. This technical conference provides an opportunity to hear about the latest data science related research and connect with others in the field.

​WiDS started as a conference at Stanford in November 2015. In 2020 the WiDS Worldwide conference reached over 100,000 people across the globe and organised 150+ WiDS regional events in 50+ countries.

WiDS Netherlands and WiDS Maastricht are two independent local events. We invite you to join us on both days. You can consult the full program here. 

Day 1, on the 8th of March, WiDS Netherlands partakes in the first-ever 24-hour virtual Women in Data Science ​(WiDS) Worldwide. The speakers will highlight data science works that impact society. WiDS Netherlands is an independent event organized by The Institute of Data Science at Maastricht University, Amsterdam Data Science, JADS, Joint Graduate School of Tilburg University and Eindhoven University of Technology and Pipple to coincide with the annual Women in Data Science (WiDS) Worldwide Conference.

 Day 2, on the 9th of March, WiDS Maastricht will follow. The speakers and the audience will focus on the impact of data science and society and on responsible data science. WiDS Maastricht is organised by the Institute of Data Science at Maastricht University with support from FEM, DKE, Macsbio, and the BISS institute.
