"Solutions for the Housing Shortage" By Piet Eichholtz

Amidst the ongoing housing crisis in the Netherlands, characterized by a shortage of nearly half a million homes, there is a growing sense of urgency and social distress. Addressing this issue has proven to be challenging, with no immediate remedies in sight.

However, Piet Eichholtz, through his research, proposes several potential solutions aimed at providing quick relief to the housing shortage.

Beyond the Classroom, an SBE Lecture Series

This lecture series aims to bring academia beyond the boundaries of traditional classrooms. This series, organised by Maastricht University School of Business Economics (SBE), invites our esteemed professors to share their expertise on a wide range of timely and thought-provoking topics, from the banking crisis to sustainable supply chains to the future of service robots. In doing so, our goal is to provide a forum where the extended SBE community can learn from experts in their field and engage in inspiring discussions. We believe that with knowledge comes the power to create change and to have a positive impact on the world!

The Format

Each event features one professor who will present their research, insights, and perspectives on a topic of their choosing. Their goal will be to provide attendees with a unique and enriching experience that will broaden their horizons and deepen their understanding of the world around them.

More than just a lecture

Beyond the Classroom is dedicated to exploring new ideas and promoting lifelong learning. This is why we welcome not only students, but also alumni, academics, professionals, and all others who would like to join. After each lecture, SBE will facilitate a post-lecture networking moment with snacks and drinks for participants. This will be an opportunity for our community to get together to discuss the topic of the lecture, get to know each other better or make new connections
