Radiation Protection Officer – Dispersible Radioactive Substances at level D

This course is aimed at employees, researchers and students who are going to work with sealed radioactive sources, dispersible radioactive substances and X-ray devices. It is a requirement to perform these actions within Maastricht University.

Content of the course

The course consists of 27.5 contact hours, includes lectures, 2 practical sessions, a tutorial and an exam. Successful completion of the course results in a nationally recognized diploma. 

The participant learns about maths, radiation physics, measuring methods, biological effects of ionizing radiation and risks and legislation on ionizing radiation. The tutorial focuses on risk analyses, the practical sessions focus on sealed sources and dispersible sources of ionizing radiation. This provides the participant with a solid base for working safely with sources of ionizing radiation.

Requirements

This course is organised in English. Sufficient proficiency in the English language is required.

The course is free for internal participants (UM, MUMC+, Maastro, Maastro Proton Therapy B.V. and Brightlands Incubators Maastricht B.V.). Specific enrolment conditions apply.
