Early and reliable asthma diagnosis in young children
Science Stories
In young children, asthma is sometimes not recognised in time and therefore not treated properly. The problem is that there is no reliable test to determine whether a child has asthma or not.
That is why Edward Dompeling (CAPHRI) and his team developed a breath test. They collect children's breath in a balloon and examine the chemical substances which are present in the exhaled air. This way, they can reliably determine whether a child has asthma or not. In this video, Edward explains how this works.
