M.L. Thijsen

I am a PhD candidate at the Department of Advanced Computing Sciences (DACS), conducting research in collaboration with MUMC+ and the ophthalmology department. My research focuses on glaucoma progression and the integration of AI into clinical practice, leveraging explainable AI and human-in-the-loop technologies to enhance decision-making and patient outcomes. By developing AI models that are both interpretable and interactive, I aim to bridge the gap between artificial intelligence and clinical expertise.

Previously, I completed my BSc in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence and my MSc in Artificial Intelligence at this faculty. My master's research, conducted in collaboration with the European Space Agency, explored Physics-Informed Neural Networks for satellite telemetry. Following my studies, I worked as a Junior Lecturer at DACS, where I managed project groups and provided guidance in various courses.
