SDG Seminar: Climate Change, Climate Crisis & Climate Action
This SDG Seminar revolves around the questions: What is the climate crisis? How have we come here? And what is our way out? Sustainability and the climate crisis/change can be an overwhelming concept. That’s why in this special edition of the SDG seminar series addressing especially new students at Maastricht University and introducing you/them to Sustainability, we would like to address these daunting questions in order to understand the full spectrum of what we are dealing with as a society.
Our guest lecturer René Gabriels will give an insight into climate change and the climate crisis and will unravel it to the core by explaining the system that underlies this problem and what the alternatives are. He will end with a few lessons for to take into consideration while working on and thinking about sustainability and thus hopefully leave us with motivation to become active ourselves.
René Gabriëls is lecturer at Maastricht University. The main fields of research are social philosophy, sociology of knowledge, philosophy of language and sociology of stratification. His research focuses on democracy, global justice, human rights, poverty, the changed role of philosophy and the relation between semantics and pragmatics.
