"Technostress among health professionals: The blame game between health professionals and technology."

Digital transformation in healthcare has its challenges in providing the promised added value for health professionals. There seems to be a discrepancy between the expected and the proven benefits of technology at work. This thesis investigated the impact of technology at work on health professionals. The health professionals showed to experience moderate technology-related stress when using technology. This so-called technostress is a negative stress reaction to the interaction with technology. One important inhibitor was found to be the digital competence of the health professionals. One aspect of digital competence is the health professionals’ attitude towards technology. In general, the health professionals were open to new technologies. However, they showed a rather negative attitude towards technology because of the low usability or non-availability of technologies. Co-design and support should be applied for future development and implementation of technology in healthcare.
