Alexandrah Bakker (A.)

Alexandrah began her PhD in Criminal Law at Maastricht University in September 2024. She is conducting socio-legal research into crimes that undermine democracy and the rule of law in and via the Netherlands (ondermijning). 

This research is part of COMCRIM, an interdisciplinary research project conducted by a public-private consortium (COMbatting CRIMes that undermine democracy and the rule of law in a smart and comprehensive manner - see: https://www.maastrichtuniversity.nl/comcrim).

Alexandrah's PhD is supervised by Jill E.B. Coster van Voorhout and Menno Dolman.

Prior to joining Maastricht University, Alexandrah has worked as a Lecturer in International and European Law at The Hague University of Applied Sciences and as a Senior Research Associate with the Public International Law & Policy Group (PILPG). Alexandrah holds a dual LL.B. in English Law and French Law (King's College London, Université Paris II Panthéon-Assas) and an MSc in International Crimes, Conflict, and Criminology (Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam).
