Update 8 May 18:00 hours | Canvas may still be unavailable after the weekend

As a security precaution, Canvas was taken offline today and was therefore unavailable to students and staff. Unfortunately, we must seriously consider the possibility that Canvas may still be unavailable after the weekend.

Although teaching is expected to continue as planned next week, students and staff may experience some limitations while Canvas remains unavailable. Each programme will assess the impact and how any disruption can be kept to a minimum.

Because Canvas is used differently across faculties and programmes, the alternatives and measures being put in place to ensure teaching runs as smoothly as possible will vary as well. Students and staff will be informed by their own faculty about any consequences for teaching and learning. We will continue to publish more general information here.

The enforced ‘shutdown’ of Canvas requires a great deal of flexibility from both students and teaching staff. Naturally, we are working hard to find suitable and safe solutions and to return to normal operations as quickly as possible. We would like to thank everyone for their flexibility, patience and understanding.
