Update 4 May | Cyberattack Canvas Provider
Last weekend, the provider of the educational software Canvas reported that user data had been stolen in a global cyberattack. UM also uses the Canvas digital learning environment. It is not yet clear whether the attack resulted in the leak of UM student and staff data, such as names and email addresses.
The Canvas provider is currently investigating which of the 9,000 educational institutions worldwide that use Canvas were affected by the attack. As soon as more relevant information becomes available, we will share it via UMployee and Canvas.
Following a number of security measures implemented in recent days, Canvas is safe to use.
