MUMC+ Golden Heart for Erie van den Heuvel
As a token of great appreciation, Erie van den Heuvel was awarded the MUMC+ Golden Heart. Stef Kremers, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Health, Medicine and Life Sciences (FHML), presented the Heart on behalf of the board of Maastricht UMC+. This took place during Erie’s farewell event on Thursday 5 November.
As an administrator within CAPHRI, Erie van den Heuvel made an indispensable contribution to the work of researchers and to FHML and Maastricht UMC+ as a whole for over 26 years. He combined great expertise with an exceptionally service-minded and amiable attitude. Even when financial matters, contracts and practical issues became complicated, he maintained a clear overview and managed projects with great care. Researchers could count on him for swift, decisive assistance and for the peace of mind and clarity needed to carry out their work effectively.
Boundless dedication
Erie stands out for his boundless dedication, strong sense of responsibility and genuine commitment. Even during periods when he himself was facing setbacks or difficult circumstances, he remained there for others. For many within CAPHRI, Erie was a pillar of support: a colleague you could count on and who worked day and night for the community.
Erie had previously received the 2011 UM Staff Award, which was presented in January 2012. This earlier recognition underlines just how long his dedication has been recognised.
After a brilliant career spanning almost 30 years, Erie is set to enjoy his well-deserved retirement. We warmly congratulate Erie on this special distinction and wish him good luck in the next phase of his life.
