Jean Monnet Guest Lecture on An Agile and Responsive EU: Strategies for a Resilient Future
On 27 March, the second Jean Monnet Lecture organised by the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence on Crises and Emergencies in EU Integration (EmergEU) took place at the School of Business and Economics.
Robert de Groot, Vice-President of the European Investment Bank and former Permanent Representative of the Netherlands to the European Union, looked back at recent crises in the European Union and explored how adaptive and responsive the Union has been. He analysed the successes and challenges faced, offering insights into future strategic directions and approaches that could enhance the EU's resilience and agility. Afterwards, the audience participated in a lively question and answer session which illuminated fresh perspectives on the variety of issues at stake.
This Jean Monnet Lecture was funded by the European Commission and Studio Europa Maastricht and convened by Prof. Andrea Ott and Prof. Giselle Bosse.
Upcoming events organised by EmergEU include a Guest Lecture with Rein Dekkers, Special Representative for the EU Eastern Partnership, on 7 April, and a Guest Lecture with Hakan Altinay, Professor of the practice at Tufts University in Boston and Director of the European School of Politics in Istanbul, on 13 May.
