Honorary Doctorate for Professor Marta Pertegás Sender
On Friday 23 May, Professor Marta Pertegás Sender was awarded an honorary doctorate from the Faculty of Law of Lund University (Sweden). The awarding of the honorary doctorate underlines Professor Pertegás Sender's status as an internationally recognised expert in her field and her valuable contribution to research, education and international cooperation.
Professor Pertegás Sender has been affiliated with the Faculty of Law of Maastricht University as a professor of Private International Law and Transnational Law since 2018. She previously worked at the University of Antwerp and the Permanent Bureau of the Hague Conference on Private International Law. She is also currently active as a visiting professor at the University of Johannesburg.
Within the Faculty of Law of Maastricht University, Professor Pertegás Sender is co-director of the Maastricht European Private Law Institute (M-EPLI) and leads the FAMIMOVE project, which focuses on the interaction between migration law and private international law, with special attention to the interests of children.
Professor Pertegás Sender is also active in various international networks outside our university. For example, she is a member of the European Group for Private International Law (GEDIP) and author of the book Concise Introduction to EU Private International Law.
