Darian Meacham (D.E.)
I am Assistant Professor of Philosophy at Maastricht University and Deputy Director for Responsible Research and Innovation at BrisSynBio, a BBSRC / EPSRC funded Synthetic Biology Research Centre at the University of Bristol. I studied at McGill University in Montreal (BA) and University of Leuven/KULeuven (MA, PhD).
My main teaching and research interests are in political philosophy, philosophy of technology, philosophy of nature, and bioethics. I am particularly interested in problems surrounding the concept of Europe and post-national political institutions, and the political, ethical and anthropological issues raised by new technologies. At the most fundamental level I am interested in the relation between sense and nature. You can find out more about my interests, projects and publications here and here.
