Prof Dr Ir Matty Weijenberg, Ph.D. (M.P.)

The molecular epidemiological research conducted within the research team is focused on lifestyle factors in relation to the incidence and prognosis of colorectal cancer while accounting for tumor heterogeneity, genetic variation, and molecular markers, and on lifestyle factors in relation to the quality of life of individuals who have survived colorectal cancer. The research is mostly embedded within two prospective cohort studies, i.e. the Netherlands Cohort Study on diet and cancer (NLCS) which is focused on the etiology and prognosis of cancer, and the Energy for life after Colo-Rectal cancer study (the EnCoRe study) which is focused on the prognosis and quality of life after the diagnosis of cancer.
