Join the protest against budget cuts on 14 November
On 14 November, employees and students of universities and universities of applied science will protest in Utrecht against the budget cuts in higher education. These budget cuts jeopardise the future of universities and their contributions to Dutch society. Maastricht University fully supports the protest and calls on its employees and students to participate.
Education and research are at stake
The planned budget cuts put the future of the Netherlands under pressure. Investing in science and innovation is vital to enable social change. A large turnout on 14 November will help reinforce our message to the government: halt the budget cuts and choose for the value of science instead. Only together, we can send a loud and clear message. Therefore, we hope for a high turnout of UM students and employees.
Programme of the day
The protest day is organised by the trade unions FNV and AOb, and partners such as WOinActie. The programme consists of several parts, including a demonstration that will leave from Moreelsepark at 13:00 and will end on Domplein, where speakers and music will conclude the day.
Practical information for employees and students
Employees who wish to participate during working hours can find more information on UMployee or via the communication channels of their own faculty or service centre.
Students will be informed by their faculties. Students who have questions about participating during study/college hours, can contact their faculty.
