Beyond the symbolism: Help shape the new UM Pride Staff community
We’re building a new community by and for LGBTQIA+ staff, where colleagues can connect, share experiences, support one another and help UM to be a workplace where we all belong and are able to thrive.
It will be a community for all LGBTQIA+ colleagues at Maastricht University, no matter your role or employment type. Whether you’re a professor or a PhD candidate, a policy advisor or a receptionist, employed by UM or working on campus through UM partners such as Appèl and Asito; you are welcome!
We want to build a community that adds value to your life at UM, so we invite you to join us for an informal gathering to exchange ideas and expectations.

No registration necessary
Drinks and vegan snacks will be served

Accessibility information
Because this meeting is specifically about understanding the needs and wishes of LGBTQIA+ colleagues, we’re asking allies not to attend this time. There will be opportunities for allies to get involved at a later stage.
UM students already have their own UM Pride community. This new community is being created especially for staff, so colleagues can connect around their own experiences and needs in the workplace.
Programme
The programme will be informal, with a short welcome followed by time to connect, exchange ideas and share feedback in various ways. You can contribute as much or as little as you would like by joining conversations, adding ideas to the Post-it walls or simply listening along.
The venue will open from 16:15 for walk-ins, while the official programme starts at 16.30.

Privacy information
We think it’s important that our meeting feels safe and discreet for everyone, especially since not everyone is open about their LGBTQIA+ identity at work. What does this mean for our event?
- No registration is required, and there will be no public participant list.
- Name tags and sharing pronouns at the event will be optional.
- There will be no photos of participants taken at the event. Participants will also be asked not to take photos themselves.
- No one will be expected to disclose anything about their identity during the event.
- Participants will be asked not to share information about who attended the event.
- Press, including Observant, will not be invited or permitted to attend.
