My research interests include, knowledge/technology transfer, the measurement and analysis of Science, Technology & Innovation including social and public sector innovation, questionnaire design, surveys and their methodology, and the economics of regional innovation.

Expertises

I have close to 15 years of experience in innovation studies and innovation statistics and have been involved in various research projects for the European Commission, the OECD, national governments and WIPO on the analysis of innovation at the national, regional and industry level. 

Career history

I received my PhD in Economics from the School of Business and Economics of Maastricht University on the topic of formal technology transfer of universities, research institutes and firms. Before becoming an assistant professor in 2024 I was a Senior Researcher at UNU-MERIT since 2011. In 2010 I received my master degree in Economics and Business from the Erasmus University in Rotterdam with distinction and in 2009 I received my bachelor degree in International Economics Studies from Maastricht University.
