In 2025 March two vibrant events at the Sustainability Hub invited visitors all over from UM. The popularity of the events showed that sustainability is not just about reducing waste, but about creatively extending the life of what we own. 

Social sustainability and building a community are also important building blocks of a greener future. On April 6th, Students Fight Cancer  Maastricht will host their biggest annual event – the SFC Run. Whether you choose to run, walk, or simply donate, every contribution supports vital cancer research at the local hospital.

The Green Office Mixer on February 11th brought together Maastricht University's Green Teams and student organization leaders to brainstorm ideas for the upcoming Sustainability Days.

The FPN Green Team gathered some interesting topics and news from around the world regarding sustainability!

The first sustainable giveaway aimed to inspire how small eco-friendly choices, like using reusable items or supporting thrift and local stores, can make travel more sustainable. Meet Elise, our lucky winner! 

On Wednesday, 22 January 2025, the FPN Green Team organised a knitting workshop, using old t-shirts to make the yarn for the knitting. It turned out to be productive and fun and was well attended.

A walk filled with lively chat and relaxation: we took a moment to let go and engage in important topics on our Steps toward change community walk.  

As part of the SUM2030 seed fund program Transition to a fossil-free society, the project "Shocks and the energy transition" is currently underway. 

Take a break, connect, and reflect. Join us on Thursday 13 February, for Steps Toward Change, an easygoing, hour-long walk starting from Tapijn at 13:15 PM.

FoodCoop Maastricht is a student-led, non-profit organization that offers organic, local, and seasonal fruits and veggies to the Maastricht community. Order your fresh produce each weekend, then pick it up at the Sustainability Hub! Still not too late for a resolution - be part of the FoodCoop community! 

Green Office Maastricht, as the first of its kind in the world, is the hub and connecting spot of student sustainability initiatives. Meet the new members of the team, Alina, Senalda and Regina! 

Just starting to ride a bike can feel a bit overwhelming, but the bike workshops have been supporting countless students in taking charge of their bike maintenance. Starting in September, the bike workshop is looking for a new leader! Ready to take on the role?

The KAN x Green Office x Artistri x FPM Christmas Market lit up the Sustainability Hub on 8 December with handmade gifts, a bake sale, a clothing swap, and cozy hot drinks. Visitors enjoyed festive vibes, DIY crafts, and a bike repair workshop!

Through innovative strategies, enhanced waste separation, and the addition of new organic waste bins, the university aims to contribute significantly to the circular economy and reduce its carbon footprint.

As part of our efforts to improve the catering experience at Maastricht University, we recently organized three engaging lunch sessions to gather valuable input for the upcoming UM catering contract.

The team planted a to be(e) meadow and held a clothing swap for employees.
