M. Asoodar
Dr. Maryam Asoodar is an Assistant Professor in Instructional Design and e-Learning at Maastricht University’s School of Health Professions Education (SHE) and is affiliated with the Department of Educational Development and Research at FHML. She specializes in designing evidence-based learning environments that support the development of adaptive expertise in healthcare professionals. Grounded in learning and instructional design theories, as well as Problem-Based Learning (PBL) principles—constructive, contextual, collaborative, and self-directed learning— she develops authentic, practice-based educational experiences. Dr. Asoodar has led and contributed to major funded projects (e.g., NWO, ZonMw) that examine how carefully designed instructional strategies can shape learner behavior, support transfer of knowledge to real-world settings, and promote human-centered, personalized care. Through her research, teaching, and leadership, she positions instructional design as a key driver of meaningful and sustainable innovation in health professions education. She is also committed to open science and academic citizenship, actively collaborating internationally and mentoring a diverse group of students.
