Dit proefschrift bepaalde referentiewaarden voor ROTEM tromboelastometrie tijdens de baring. De hypercoagulabele toestand tijdens de zwangerschap werd bevestigd, evenals de correlatie tussen enkele ROTEM-parameters en conventionele laboratoriumtesten. De kans op afwijkende stollingswaarden is laag. In het tweede deel van het proefschrift werd het effect onderzocht van restrictieve vochtresuscitatie bij vrouwen met milde postpartumhemorragie. Restrictieve vocht resuscitatie is niet inferieur aan de standaardbehandeling.
