Dr Alex Thinius (A.C.)

Dr. Alex Thinius is filosoof met een achtergrond in cultuuranalyse en in de sociaal-culturele antropologie. Alex werkt aan een beter begrip van wat categorieën zijn en hoe ze veranderen, met name complexe categorieën zoals gender/geslacht/sekse.

 

Op HES geeft Alex voornamelijk les in het reflecteren op sociale en filosofische aspecten van academisch (gezondheids)onderzoek. Als betrokken docent is Alex geïnteresseerd in pro-democratische pedagogische benaderingen. (Zie 'onderwijs') 

 

Alex' meest recente werk kijkt naar hoe hedendaagse onderzoekers in de biomedisch wetenschap hun begrippen van sekse en gender opnieuw onderhandelen. Een tweede thema focust op de metafysica van sociaal-culturele categorieën als dynamische configuratieprocessen binnen complexe sociale structuren (“Dynamic Categories”). (Zie 'onderzoek')
