J.M.N. Essers

My name is Hans Essers and am a teacher and researcher in the Nutrition and Movement Sciences department. My PhD, as part of the STW-funded Symbionics program, involved the evaluation of robotic arm support usage in a laboratory and home setting concerning a muscular weakness population: http://doi.org/10.26481/dis.20230331je. My expertise includes upper extremity biomechanics via electromyograms, kinetics, and 3D motion capture, and activity monitoring via accelerometry. I'm fluent in programming such as Matlab, the majority of biomechanical measurement techniques, and also quite knowledgeable in other study aspects of the human body. I've collaborated well with a.o. UMC Groningen and Radboud Nijmegen, and also established good connections with other movement sciences departments, rehabilitation centres, and robotic arm support companies throughout the Netherlands and Belgium.
