41e Dies Natalis

Op dinsdag 7 februari 2017, precies 25 jaar geleden na de ondertekening van het Verdrag van Maastricht, vierde de UM haar 41e Dies Natalis.

Bekijk hieronder de registratie van de Diesviering.

De Diesviering sluit aan bij de feestelijkheden in de stad die dit jubileum markeren, onder de titel ‘Europe Calling’.

In dit kader kende de UM tijdens de ceremonie een eredoctoraat toe aan Joachim Gauck, Bondspresident van Duitsland. Angela Merkel noemde hem een ‘onvermoeibare voorvechter van vrijheid, democratie en recht’. Dit, in combinatie met zijn pro-Europese signatuur, heeft de Universiteitsraad geleid tot zijn voordracht. De heer Gauck zal ook de Diesrede uitspreken. Hare Koninklijke Hoogheid Prinses Beatrix der Nederlanden was aanwezig bij de uitreiking van het eredoctoraat.

Traditiegetrouw reikte de Rector Magnificus tijdens de viering eveneens de Wynand Wijnen Onderwijsprijs, de Proefschriftenprijs 2016 en de Studentenprijzen uit.
