Human Rights Crisis in Europe

Although there is a perception in many European countries that human rights are by and large respected on our continent, there is a need for self-criticism. 

Agreed international standards are not fully respected. Concrete improvements reaching the poorest and the most marginalised are needed. Minorities are discriminated and refugees deprived of basic human rights. Prison conditions are generally substandard and the judicial system still distorted by corruption in the former Communist countries.
