Universities in Climate Transition

-

UM staff and students are warmly invited to a panel discussion for a strategic and inspiring conversation on the role of universities in the transition toward a sustainable and just society. For this important conversation we will bring together three honorary doctorate recipients and two UM students:

  • Mr. Roger Cox – Lawyer, pioneer in climate litigation (Urgenda, Shell)
  • Prof. Peter Stenvinkel – Professor of Nephrology, expert in planetary health (geintegreerde kennisinstelling)
  • Frans Timmermans – Former Executive Vice-President of the European Commission (European Green Deal)
  • Two UM student panelists

This dialogue will generate critical reflection and insight on how universities can respond to global sustainability challenges, while offering international perspectives on climate justice, planetary health, and political leadership. The discussion aims to inspire both staff and students and to strengthen internal engagement around UM’s Sustainability Roadmap 2030.
