Please note: this event is by invitation only.

The B-Solutions Event is organised by the Directorate-General for Regional and Urban Policy (DG REGIO) of the European Commission, together with the Association of European Border Regions (AEBR). The main idea of the day is to promote an encounter between the European Commission, AEBR and all projects within the B-Solutions Project, a 2-year long initiative aimed at tackling legal and administrative border obstacles along EU internal borders. Expertise Centre ITEM of Maastricht University is one of the participants.

The event should allow for a stock-taking exercise but also – taking into account these are pilot projects – to ensure a clear understanding of what can be expected from the projects, what will be the main outcomes of the entire exercise, and to facilitate building synergies.

The European Commission also aims to provide all participants with valuable information on European policy for overcoming legal and administrative border obstacles. Furthermore, the commission will also count with the presence of external experts, whose reflections could be useful for the projects.

About B-Solutions and ITEM
The institute of Transnational and Euregional cross border cooperation and Mobility/ITEM of Maastricht University is part of the B-Solutions Project with the project ‘Roadmap and factsheet for the recognition of qualifications for highly demanded professions’, funded by the EU. This initiative brings together partners along the Dutch border, including partners from the Netherlands, Belgium, North Rhine-Westphalia and Lower Saxony. The aim of the project is to develop roadmaps and fact sheets for highly demanded professions, in order to promote cross-border mobility and employability by improving recognition. The project focuses in particular on the way in which the recognition of selected promising regulated professions takes place. The documents will indicate how competent authorities assess qualifications to provide first line supporters and citizens with information that goes beyond what is currently readily available. In addition, the project aims to make citizens aware of their rights and obligations during the recognition procedures. ITEM is the project leader on behalf of the Province of Limburg.
