Dr Jeroen Moes (J.G.T.M.)
Onderzoeksprofiel
Currently, Jeroen's research focuses on issues of identity, inequality, and European integration. Where possible, these projects involve students in the context of Research-Based Learning (RBL). In this capacity, Jeroen also runs the UCM Methods Lab which advises and informs students and staff on the use of methods and methodological techniques.
Two on-going research projects specifically are (1) Neighbourhoods in Transition, which looks at issues of gentrification, identity, internationalization, and social class in Maastricht, and (2) First Generation Academics, which looks at inequalities and identities amongst students and staff at universities who are the first ones in their families to attend university.
Jeroen's PhD research (“Imagining Europe”, European University Institute (EUI), Florence) focused on European identity, or more specifically, what ‘Europe’ means to different people. This research project was predominantly based on fieldwork in Estonia, Italy, and the Netherlands (see www.imagining.eu for more information).
