Welcome to the UM Sustainability Days of the Faculty of Health, Medicine and Life Sciences Faculty! Our programs features lectures, workshops and panel discussions on sustainability topics specific to the fields of health and medicine. Our expert panelists and workshop leaders include professionals from academia, industry, and NGOs who will share their knowledge and experiences on various aspects of sustainability in health and psychology. This is a great opportunity to learn about the latest developments and trends in sustainability, network with professionals in the field, and gain practical knowledge on how to promote sustainable practices within your profession.

Tuesday 12th of May
Repair, reuse, and paint: DIY upcycling event
Come join us for a lovely afternoon of upcycling. Bring your favorite piece of clothing that you cannot part with, but that needs a bit of repair. Or just come and let your imagination go wild by painting a tote bag. You can bring clothes that you no longer wear and swap them for a new statement item from others who are joining. Feel free to drop by to chat and for the great vibes!

Lecture on Climate change and health
The lecture explains how climate change has changed our environment, and how ambient heat and heat waves are adversely affecting the lives of vulnerable groups such as pregnant women and their newborns. Based on original research in Europe and sub-Saharan Africa, the lecture will increase understanding of the magnitude of perinatal health impacts from heat, what is meant by heat in temperate regions such as the Netherlands, and what adaptation interventions can be applied.
