… Conference. Finally, Mirjam de Mol successfully defended her PhD thesis on the 'Direct Effect of EU Fundamental Rights'. The Centre’s high level monthly research seminars coordinated by Maja Brkan have also triggered many interesting academic debates within our Centre. Besides discussions on the European Parliament elections (see next page), we opened the new academic year with a symposium, involving Master students, on 'The social implications of the economic crisis in the EU' with presentations … database on national case law.
