Wouter Devroe is Professor of EuropeanCompetition Law at Maastricht University. He studied law in Leuven (K.U.Leuven, 1990, summa cum laude), Heidelberg (Ruprecht-Karls Universität, 1989-1990, Erasmus) and Chicago (Northwestern Univ. LL.M. 1991, Fulbright fellowship) and defended a Ph.D on privatisation, corporatisation and services of general interest in 2000.
In his research Wouter is particularly interested in the economics of European competition law.
Wouter Devroe is full professor of law at the University of Leuven and attorney at the Brussels Bar, practising EU and competition law with global 'magic circle' firm Allen & Overy. He was a legal clerk (référendaire) at the Court of Justice of the EU (1992-1995) and member of the Belgian competition authority and administrative court (2000-2007). Currently, he heads the Leuven Centre for a Common Law of Europe. He is a scholar of the Maastricht Center of European Law and a member of the Ius Commune Research School.
