Start FHML-onderwijs in september
Vanaf september staan onze deuren open en kun je bij ons komen studeren zoals het hoort: op de campus! Corona zal na de zomer nog niet volledig verdwenen zijn. We doen er daarom alles aan om je veilig in de gebouwen te ontvangen. Op deze pagina leggen we je graag uit wat dit betekent voor jou als aankomend student aan de Faculty Health, Medicine and Life Sciences.

Onderwijs
De UM zal het onderwijs vanaf augustus inrichten zonder anderhalve meter afstand. Bij de start van het nieuwe academisch jaar verwachten we jullie daarom allemaal op locatie. Dit betekent dat onderwijsactiviteiten, zoals onderwijsgroepen, trainingen, practica, mentorgesprekken en toetsen plaatsvinden in de faculteitsgebouwen.
We verwachten je in persoon op de faculteit voor alle onderwijsbijeenkomsten. In Maastricht is kleinschalig onderwijs met veel persoonlijk contact een van de belangrijkste pijlers van het onderwijssysteem. Door bij elkaar te komen leer je niet alleen je medestudenten kennen, maar kun je ook actief deelnemen aan de discussies in de onderwijsbijeenkomsten. Door te praten over de inhoud oefen je belangrijke vaardigheden en onthoud je de leerstof veel beter.
Maatregelen
De maximale groepsgrootte is in augustus mogelijk nog beperkt voor binnenruimtes. Hierdoor kan het voorkomen dat je (een deel van) de hoorcolleges online zult volgen. Verder zorgen wij in de gebouwen voor extra schoonmaak en ontsmettingspunten voor de handen. De maatregelen van de Nederlandse overheid (mondkapjesplicht, looproutes, zelftesten en thuisblijven bij klachten) blijven ook binnen de UM-gebouwen van kracht zolang als dat nodig is. Deze maatregelen gelden dus ook als je al gevaccineerd bent.
Reisverbod
Nu kan het natuurlijk zo zijn dat je om corona-gerelateerde redenen niet naar de faculteit kúnt komen. Omdat je bijvoorbeeld vanuit het land waar je verblijft nog niet naar Nederland mag reizen. In dat geval – en als je daartoe ontheffing hebt gekregen van de Examencommissie – kun je online het onderwijs volgen. Dit betekent in ieder geval dat je online kunt meedoen met onderwijsactiviteiten die op de faculteit plaatsvinden, met uitzondering van practica en (vaardigheids)trainingen die niet online gegeven kunnen worden. Deze activiteiten moeten op een later moment ingehaald worden. Zodra het reisverbod vanuit jouw land wordt opgeheven, verwachten we je op de campus. Mocht je hierover, of over andere persoonlijke omstandigheden, nu al vragen hebben, dan kun je terecht bij je studieadviseur. De studieadviseur helpt je ook met het aanvragen van een ontheffing bij de Examencommissie. De reisadviezen medio augustus 2021 zullen hierbij leidend zijn.

We houden de ontwikkelingen scherp in de gaten in de komende maanden en passen onze plannen waar nodig op gepaste wijze aan. Als dat gebeurt zullen we daarover aanvullend communiceren.

Ervaar Maastricht

Studentenleven in Maastricht
To get your academic year off to a good start, various introductory events are being organised. The two most popular events in for Maastricht are the INKOM (focused on student life) and the FHML introduction days (focused on education). Besides introductory events, you can expect to find information about student associations, UM Sports and the one-stop-(information)shop for all international students!
INKOM
The INKOM is the general introduction week of Maastricht for all new students of Maastricht University and Zuyd University of Applied Sciences. INKOM is a typical Dutch student life introduction, a cooperation of uni students and study assocations, focused on the student life not on the content of the educational programmes. Given the current COVID-19 crisis, INKOM 2021 will take place as a partly digital and partly physical event. But... don't worry! We are working hard to make INKOM 2021 a great edition! Facultaire Introductie
During a one-day Faculty Introduction at the end of August, you will get to know the faculty FHML, the health campus and your fellow students. Everything is organised in such a way that it is corona-proof. The activities on that day - such as a lecture and games - will be on campus. And for the whole day you will be partnered up with the students of your tutorial group, so you know each other already when education kicks of.
Studentenverenigingen
At FHML, there are several study associations. As a member of a study association everything is possible, but nothing is mandatory.
At the study associations you can:
enjoy lots of activities with your fellow students;
receive discount on books and study materials;
get exam training and study support;
attend lectures and workshops focused on your study programme and career;
help to improve the educational system.
Een centrale plek met informatie voor internationale studenten
Are you an international student who is planning to come to Maastricht in August? And are you looking for information regarding Health, Transport, Housing and Finances as well as Sports, Media and Community in Maastricht? Then Mymaastricht is the place for you! Mymaastricht.nl is the one-stop information platform to help international students find their way in the city. They reach students via their website, blog and social media, as well as by running workshops during the University open days. Mymaastricht works with the University and the "Gemeente" (the local municipality) to help give students the best start to their life in the city.
