The Sense of Injustice: On Exploitation, Racism and Sexism

How do people suffering from exploitation, racism and sexism feel? When do they rise up in anger against what’s happening to them? For many of them, their anger is often prompted by a sense of injustice. This course explores the political meaning of this sense of injustice. First, we will investigate the exploitation of people. Then we will discuss the past and present of racism and of sexism. And finally, we will look into the possibilities and limitations with regard to resisting injustice. The issues dealt with on this course are topical, as shown by the Global Justice Movement, Black Lives Matter and the new feminist wave. The ideas of various philosophers and scientists form the basis for shedding light on these issues.
