Dr T.A.J. Demeulemeester

Dr. Tom Demeulemeester is an Assistant Professor in Operations Research at the Department of Quantitative Economics, within the School of Business and Economics, Maastricht University. His research lies at the intersection of operations research, economics, and computer science, with a particular focus on matching and assignment problems, computational social choice, and algorithmic game theory.

His research aims to design and analyze fair and efficient decision-making procedures for socially relevant allocation problems, combining mathematical programming and algorithm design with axiomatic analysis. He has studied, for example, the assignment of prospective students to schools, the allocation of housing units in housing cooperatives, and the allocation of donated transplant organs.

At Maastricht University, Tom is involved in teaching and supervising courses in operations research and quantitative methods, and he actively collaborates with researchers across economics and computer science. More information on his research, publications, and professional activities can be found on his personal webpage: www.tdem.be
