C. Palacios Mateo

Cristina has a background in biotechnology, with a focus on industrial applications and research.

In September 2019, she joined AMIBM as a PhD candidate to work on enzymatic depolymerization of polyester material (mainly fibers and microfibers), acting as a bridge between the groups "Applied Microbiology" headed by Prof. Dr. Lars Blank at RWTH Aachen and "Polymer Engineering" headed by Prof. Dr. Gunnar Seide at UM.

At the moment she also collaborates within the "Glaukos" project, an innovative EU-funded H2020 project that aims to develop biodegradable and biorecyclable textile fibers and coatings to be used in fishing gear and clothing.
