And that was no easy feat, as the newspapers – especially the Saturday editions – were made from such thick paper back then that they often didn't fit inside the letterboxes. … Descriptive summary of the project (main goal(s), main activities, main results) In Benin obstetric fistula is still a considerable health problem. The patients depend largely on European surgeons flying in to operate on women in a certain period that they can spend in Benin. The Université de Parakou has expressed the desire to set up a specialization training to train Benenise doctors to become skilled fistula surgeons in order to eventually be able to continuously assist the women in need. We work closely together with a Senegalese/Beninese team of fistula surgeons to help set up the specialization. Attention is given to Beninese stakeholder support to assure the required financial arrangements to support the interventions once the project is completed. …
