- biobased_materials_-_new_drug_release_systems_from_frozen_fume_fibres.pdf (252.06 kB, PDF)… preliminary trials showing that the production of aerogel fibres is possible. Porous aerogel fibres Hypothesis and Objectives: - Aerogel fibres could serve as drug release systems as they consist mainly of pores which could be filled. - Aerogel fibres can be spun from biocompatible polymers. - How can the drug release be influenced by pore size, pore size distribution and molecular orientation? - Which polymers do perform best? - Which process is needed to achieve the necessary structure? Setting and Methods: • Production of cellulose-based … evaluation of the produced aerogel fibres Impact: Aerogel could solve the problem of too fast or too slow release of drug (therapeutically concentration not reached or exceeded) by pore structure design of biocompatible fibre structures. Requirements candidate: Highly motivated student with good English communication skills and proactive and resolute attitude, chemistry or polymer processing background Keywords: Fibre, biobased, aerogel, process-simulation, polymer, textile Top 5 selected …
- biobased_materials_-_additives_for_enhanced_recycling_of_polyolefins_and_polycondensates.pdf (319.6 kB, PDF)… Introduction: Polymer materials find use in an immense number of applications used in our daily life. One problem with the usage of plastics is that they are generally not biodegradable and might accumulate in nature if not disposed of correctly. In this project we address the challenges in recyclability of polyolefin and polycondensate polymers through the development of new additives that enhance the recyclability. These additives undergo self-assembly in the polymer matrix and thereby introduce various beneficial and unexpected properties to the blends; the additives act as compatibilizer, they acts as nucleating agent, and most importantly, they ease the processing through a viscosity reduction. This unique combination of properties makes these novel additives excellent candidates to improve the recycling process while simultaneously introducing new functionalities in recycled products. Hypothesis and Objectives: Recently we have reported a series of nucleating agents for a wide range of materials including …

- assessment_instruction_1.doc (48.5 kB, DOC)… of each item is given in below. 1. The relevant clinical characteristics, entry and eligibility criteria, as well as drop-out during follow-up should be stated explicitly. 2. A detailed description should be given of the competing interventions. This should encompass a clear and specific statement of the primary objective of each alternative, as well as relevant factors, such as intensity, duration, and frequency. 3. A research question has to identify clearly the alternatives being compared … economic study design is a full economic evaluation (comparison of costs and effects of 2 or more interventions) based on primary research (cohort, case-control, randomised controlled trial). 5. The period of analysis of the study is the time horizon. This time horizon should always be equal for costs and outcomes if these are combined in a ratio. The time span should be long enough to include all relevant costs and outcomes relating the intervention. Ideally, the follow-up period should be extended … (C2-C1) by the outcome differences (O2-O1) for the alternatives. 14. Discounting is done appropriately if all costs and outcomes are converted to one single year, based on a motivated discount rate. 15. All variables in the analysis are potential candidates for the sensitivity analysis. Only variables that are certain or which have a minimal impact on the study results (based on the preliminary analysis) can be excluded from the sensitivity analysis. Furthermore, a justification should be given …
