"Mechanisms of cardiovasculair disease as defined by cardiac computed tomography"
Conventionele hartcomputertomografie (CT) rapporteert alleen coronaire calciumscores en de aanwezigheid van atherosclerose en coronaire stenose (vernauwing van kransslagaders) veroorzaakt door coronaire hartziekte (CAD). De gegevens in dit proefschrift tonen aan dat hart CT kan worden gebruikt om hart- en vaatziekten te kwantificeren die verder gaan dan alleen coronaire stenose. Deze nieuwe beeldvormingskenmerken van hart- en vaatziekten kunnen worden gekwantificeerd met gespecialiseerde software, en kunnen op hun beurt worden gebruikt als biomarker voor risicostratificatie.
