Beste Maastricht University gemeenschap,

Sinds 1 mei heb ik de eer om voorzitter te zijn van onze Universiteitsraad. Ik ben verbonden aan UCM sinds 2007, waar ik diverse vakken in de politieke filosofie doceer. Als hoogleraar Liberal Arts and Sciences Education doe ik onderzoek naar de waarde van liberal arts onderwijs en ben ik evangelist voor deze onderwijsfilosofie in Maastricht, Nederland en Europa. Tijdens mijn loopbaan heb ik verschillende functies bekleed, waaronder vice-decaan van Academic Affairs en waarnemend decaan van UCM, ook was ik lid van het ontwikkelingsteam voor de bacheloropleiding in Global Studies. Op dit moment ben ik voorzitter van de Ethische Commissie voor de binnenstadfaculteiten.
