The BSO is specified as the contact person for the ongoing generic import exemption for animal by-products from the NVWA. This means that the BSO should be contacted in the event of questions/problems with customs clearance. The BSO has no responsibility for the shipment and will refer any questions to the receiving researcher. If the receiving researcher is unknown, the package will remain with the customs authority or be returned to the sender. The import exemption must be sent to both the courier and sender in digital format. The sender will append it to the package. In addition to the import exemption, the package must also be accompanied by an original document stating the nature, quantity, and origin of the animal by-products.
