F. F. Scott Fitzgerald’s world-renowned love story The Great Gatsby is considered to be Fitzgerald's magnum opus. The novel explores themes of decadence, idealism, resistance to change, social upheaval and excess, creating a portrait of the Roaring Twenties. The play tells the story of Jay Gatsby (starring role for Jeroen van Koningsbrugge), who leads a life of deception to appear more successful, wealthy and attractive to his true love. But, as it turns out, there are limits set by the harsh realities of life.
The play is in Dutch, and will be surtitled in English. It is accompanied by live music. Prior to the play at 19.00, there is an introduction in English.
