YUFE Academy Autumn 2025
Did you know…
…that the length of comfortable silence depends on the culture?
…that losing your sense of smell can be an early sign of dementia?
…that memes aren’t just funny pics, they also have a scientific value?
Curious? Join the next YUFE Academy: a series of open lectures led by top professors and experts from our partner universities. Get your knowledge from a reliable source and feed your curiosity.
Whether in person or online, YUFE Academy offers you a truly European classroom, where you can explore new ideas and meet people from across the continent.
“I liked the intergenerational aspect of the discussion following the lecture… being included in such a diversified group age-wise, allows more discussion between every generation on global issues and how to solve them.” — YUFE Academy participant.
The Autumn edition brings lectures on a wide range of fascinating topics, from science and technology to society and wellbeing. We’ll explore bold ideas such as cooling the Earth by reflecting sunlight back into space, ask whether humanity is truly the culprit behind global warming, and examine the hidden costs of urbanisation.
The programme also looks at the impact of technology on learning and research: from the role of automated translation in academic work to practical tips on boosting your online learning. And because our alliance is so diverse, we dive into intercultural communication — asking how much meaning is lost in translation.
This theme continues in October, when the Academy joins forces with the YUFE International Café. Over a hot drink (and hotter debate), we'll explore how cultural differences shape the way we communicate. The lecture ‘Say What?! Understanding Communication through Culture’ kicks off on Thursday 23 October, both online and onsite, followed by workshops on language and perception.
How to join:
- Visit the YUFE Academy section in the Virtual Campus.

So far, more than 1,000 participants from across Europe have joined the Academy, with satisfaction rates at the highest level. In our latest survey, 94% of participants said they were satisfied with the organisation and content of the lectures.
