Racism

Over the past year, the term ‘white privilege’ was used very often. But wasn’t Barack Obama right when he said, “Most working- and middle-class white Americans don’t feel that they have been particularly privileged by their race”.
Nobody will deny that racism and prejudices abound, but is it the case that a colour boundary runs through society, determining whether or not someone gets a chance? Maybe the real question is to reflect again on a society that focuses on a shared future, rather than shared origins; beyond the pitfall of ‘black’ and ‘white’.
