Pint of Science Maastricht 2025
Pint of Science 2025: UM researchers take to the pubs – Science outside university walls!
From 19 to 21 May 2025, the international science festival Pint of Science returns to Maastricht – and for the first time, expands to Venlo. During this three-day festival, researchers from Maastricht University will share their work not in lecture halls, but in local cafés, where the public is invited to listen, ask questions, and raise a glass to science.
This year’s edition includes six evening events, each centred on a different theme – ranging from healthy ageing and quantum physics to education, diversity, sustainability, and fat metabolism. The venues? Familiar, friendly pubs and breweries in both Maastricht and Venlo. No slides full of jargon, no formal presentations – just real stories, relatable questions, and genuine curiosity.
🎟️ Tickets: €8, including one drink
🕕 Doors open at 18:30, events run from 19:00 to ±21:30

Importance
In a time of heavy budget cuts in academia, the importance of science communication is only increasing. “Science shouldn’t be a black box,” says the organising team. “We believe researchers have a responsibility to open up, explain what they do, and show how their work matters to society.”
Pint of Science aims to humanize research and spark conversations with people who may not normally engage with science. Whether you're a student, a professional, a local resident, or just curious – everyone is welcome!
