Over the next four years, four young researchers can start research into crop biotechnology and engineering, thanks to the collaboration between Radboud University and Maastricht University. The researchers will start work at the Brightlands Campus Greenport in Venlo, halfway between the two universities and at the heart of an important agricultural and horticultural area in the Netherlands and Germany.
Vier jonge onderzoekers kunnen de komende vier jaar starten met onderzoek op het gebied van biotechnologie en techniek voor gewassen, dankzij de samenwerking tussen de Radboud Universiteit en de Universiteit Maastricht. De onderzoekers gaan aan de slag op de Brightlands Campus Greenport in Venlo, halverwege de beide universiteiten en in het hart van een belangrijk land- en tuinbouwgebied in Nederland en Duitsland.
Onderzoekers wereldwijd brengen de genetische afstamming van de meerderheid van alle bloeiende plantengeslachten in kaart. Ook de Universiteit Maastricht draagt bij aan deze monsterklus die de stamboom van planten completer maakt dan ooit tevoren. Hun onderzoek staat deze week in het gerenommeerde wetenschappelijke tijdschrift Nature.
Researchers from across the world have mapped the genetic relationships of the majority of flowering plant genera. Maastricht University helped with this massive effort, which completes the evolutionary tree of life of plants like never before. The famous scientific journal Nature published their research this week.
