… 4 september 2017 Zoekresultaten On Friday 1 September, Professor Leonie Cornips, professor by special appointment of Language Culture at Maastricht University in Limburg and the Meertens Institute in Amsterdam, launched a Dialect Web App for the Limburg dialects ‘Eèsjdes’ (the Eijsden dialect) and ‘Mestreechs’ (the Maastricht dialect) in the Council Chamber of the municipality of Eijsden-Margraten. The Web App is intended for anyone who wants to learn dialects, allow others to hear their dialect and enjoy dialects. The app contains about fifty sentences in Eèsjdes and Mestreechs (offered in dialect, Dutch and English) that are useful for any tourist … a restaurant or find the nearest cash machine. The phrases were chosen in such a way that they will not only be useful for tourists, but also contain a number of linguistic characteristics that are interesting for research. … Museum, in collaboration with students from Maastricht University, digitized collection items and converted them into 3D models. As many as 72 three-dimensional mining objects along with detailed background information are being presented on a new website, which has been launched on December 12. More than thirty students of the master’s programme Media Studies: Digital Cultures at Maastricht University’s Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences have spent about a month and a half digitizing part of … of mining in the Netherlands. Topics covered are the origin and extraction of coal, the rich culture of mining, and the daily life in a miner's family. The objects were categorized, photographed and studied in detail. The result is a very extensive website with information about mining history, detailed descriptions of objects and 3D models of 72 collection items which can be digitally studied in great detail online. The website will be used for educational purposes as well. For now, the website is available in English due to the international nature of the master’s program, but a Dutch version is in development. For three months in Spring 2021 they collaboratively built a website that would become part of an online, international dialogue of their experience during the pandemic. The collection is built around one object that each student chose to represent what the pandemic meant to them: from a Peruvian Matej cup, to … These individual stories were then collected into larger themes, which also spoke to the feelings that so many of us experienced during this time: Escapism, (Re)constructing Reality, Documenting the Period, Nostalgia, and Health.
