Kleinjans Key words: transcriptomics, epigenomics, data integration, genomic interaction networks "Linking the epigonome and transcriptome; Integration and visualization of omics data" The abundance of biological data has made data integration approaches increasingly popular. This research hypothesizes that the integration of complementary data leads to a better understanding of the cellular processes and molecular interactions … regulation and expression of genes. Alternations in one or both layers will strongly affect the biological processes and provide insights into disease mechanisms. First, the study integrated both the epigenome and transcriptome to investigate genomic profiles in in vitro cancer data to understand cancer cell line characteristics. Second, it investigated the relationships between environmental exposure, the epigenome, and transcriptome in population studies. Click here for the live stream. Fac. …

Schaper Key words: diabetes, daily glucose variability, continuous glucose monitoring "The measurement and consequences of daily glucose variability; a meaningful addition to the mean?" Diabetes mellitus is an important global health concern. Diabetes … this study, a large number of research participants has undergone continuous glucose monitoring. A continuous glucose monitor is a medical device that can measure glucose values every five minutes, which enables the detailed mapping of daily glucose profiles. The dissertation aims to provide tools to improve the measurement of daily glucose variability and continuous glucose monitoring, as well as to investigate whether daily glucose variability should indeed be considered an independent risk …

Like all valves, the tricuspid imposes a … highlight the need to intervene earlier in some particular groups of patients, and to evaluate those risk factors that could predict a failure, inducing thus the surgeon to change surgical strategy. In a few words, this thesis I tries to outline the profile of patients with tricuspid regurgitation in order to suggest a more patient-centric strategy, rather than simply a technical-centric one. This thesis was supported by the Netherlands Heart Foundation and CARIM (Cardiovascular Research Institute …

… 30 mrt 09:00 - 16:00 Zoekresultaten Our 14th MHeNs Research Day will take place: Online Wednesday 30 March 2022 Why do some people develop a brain disorder when exposed to harmful conditions, while others do not? Neuroscientific research is conventionally geared towards mapping risk factors for … research into resilience conducted at our school. We will highlight research covering the entire pathway from gene to brain to behaviour, answering questions such as: how is resilience to stressful environments reflected in gene expression profiles? What are the neural correlates of resilience? Which environmental and life-style factors promote brain plasticity after damage? And ultimately, how can the insights from research into resilience aid us to optimize neuroscience and move …
