Statement Executive Board after reports and graffiti on buildings with allegations about approach of addressing sexual violence in student life.

Today, the Dutch Cabinet appointed Professor Trudie Schils as a member of the Dutch Education Council; the council that advises the government on education in the Netherlands. Trudie Schils is professor economics of education at Maastricht University. 

The Executive Board has appointed Dr Dominic Coppens as Professor of International Economic Law with effect from 1 September 2022 for 0.2 FTE; he succeeds Prof Peter Van den Bossche.

This January, two hundred randomly selected citizens will discuss the future of European migration during the Conference on the Future of Europe, with Maastricht hosting the Conference’s migration programme. Studio Europa Maastricht poses the four questions up for discussion to professor of migration studies Melissa Siegel.

Alexander Hoogenboom, scientific coordinator at ITEM, is the winner of the Ius Commune Prize of 2016. Alexander Hoogenboom won the 2016 Ius Commune Prize for his paper ‘In Search of a Rationale for the EU Citizenship Jurisprudence’. The prize was awarded at the 15th Ius Commune Conference on 24 November 2016.

Dr. Hylke Dijkstra, Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences has recently edited a forum on the recent EU Global Strategy for the Journal of Contemporary Security Policy with seven articles by senior colleagues on how the strategy came about.

Maastricht University ranks 173rd in this year’s QS World University Rankings, showing a slight decrease compared to last year (place 169). In relation to the other Dutch universities, UM’s 9th position remains the same.
